November 22, 2002, Newsletter Issue #83: Common Pregnancy Discomforts

Tip of the Week

During the later part of the second trimester and third trimester, leg cramps can become a common occurrence. The extra weight that an expectant mom carries creates tension and puts a lot of strain on leg muscles. This in turn causes leg cramps that can be quite painful.

Leg cramps can also be brought on by the lack of calcium in the blood, or the expanding uterus putting pressure on nerves to the legs.
