Tip of the Week

Chorionic Villus Sampling, or CVS as it is more commonly known, is not a pleasant test for moms-to-be. However it can give vital information as regards to the status of the fetus as early as 10 weeks into pregnancy. Tissue sample is taken from between the uterine lining and the chorion (what will become the fetal side of the placenta) via either a transcervical or a transabdominal procedure. Both procedures can be very painful to some pregnant women, although there are those who only feel discomfort.
