June 15, 2007, Newsletter Issue #155: Pregnancy Planning and Lifestyle Changes

Tip of the Week

As you begin planning for pregnancy, there are several lifestyle changes that you may need to consider before you begin trying to conceive. It is important for both you and your baby that you are as healthy as possible. For general good health, keep the following points in mind.

* Eat healthy foods, such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and dairy products.
* Avoid alcohol, medications (consult your doctor about prescribed meds), and smoking, including second-hand smoke.
* Exercise routinely, but talk to your doctor before beginning a new exercise regimen.
* Limit your caffeine intake, or eliminate it altogether if possible.
