Tip of the Week

Gestational Diabetes means that during pregnancy, the blood sugar level is elevated. During pregnancy, some of the elevating hormones make insulin less effective at doing its main job, which is transporting glucose. When this happens, the glucose is left to circulate freely, which in turn, can then become available to your growing fetus. The growing fetus uses this extra glucose as fuel for growth and development. This in turn means that, without proper diet, glucose can continue to fuel your baby´s growth, resulting in a large baby.
